JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for the Implementation of Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) revealed that Indonesia was forced to lose 7000 barrels of oil due to floods that hit several work areas and oil fields.

Deputy for Exploitation of SKK Migas Wahju Wibowo said, there were at least 7 rigs that could not operate because they were flooded.

"There are 7 rigs that can't work because of floods and several force majeures, so they have to evacuate. I have a lot of field videos that have sunk, this is the biggest swimming pool," Wahju said at a press conference at the SKK Migas Building, Friday, January 12.

In addition, he is rich, many oil transport trucks are also not operating.

When asked about the political year's influence on the performance of exploitation upstream of oil and gas, Wahju said, he had never felt disturbed by issues in the political year.

He is even more worried about flooding, lack of rigs, and lack of human resources.

"In my calendar, there is no election parameter. I frankly have not felt disturbed by the election. In fact, the floods disturbed me, there was a shortage of rigs, the shortage of people was waiting for me," said Wahju.

In addition to the flood issue and lack of rigs, the challenge that SKK Migas must face is increasingly difficult land acquisition.

"If we go to a new area, maybe with a new community, a new land planning room, maybe forest, palm oil, that needs negotiations, it has the uniqueness to handle it," concluded Wahju.
