Accompanying Jokowi For A Visit To Three Countries, Erick Thohir: Discuss Trade Cooperation To Investment

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir also accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on a working visit to three countries, namely the Philippines, Vietnam, and Brunei Darussalam this week.

This was conveyed by Erick through his personal Instagram social media account @erick.thohir quoted on Wednesday, January 10.

"For the next week, I accompanied Mr. President Jokowi to carry out a working visit to the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam," he wrote.

Erick also revealed the purpose of Jokowi's working visit. One of them is to discuss strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and the three countries.

"There are a number of agendas that we are doing to strengthen trade cooperation and investment from these three ASEAN countries. Hopefully everything will be launched and return to Indonesia with good news," wrote Erick again.

Previously, it was reported that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) made a series of state visits to the Philippines, Vietnam, and Brunei Darussalam on January 9-14, 2024.

"My last visit to these three countries has been more than five years ago and he or she has been visited by Indonesia maybe not once, twice, three times, maybe even five times, both by the prime minister and his president," said Jokowi when delivering a press statement ahead of his departure from Halim Perdanakusuma Base Ops, Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, January 9.

President Jokowi's visit to the Philippines this time coincided with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Philippine Diplomatic Relations. Jokowi called the Philippines an important partner for Indonesia.

"Many Indonesian defense equipment products purchased by the Philippines and Indonesia's investment in the Philippines are also quite significant," he said.
