Director General of National Export Development (Dirjen PEN) of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Didi Sumedi said the government raised the export target to China by 2024 to US$65-70 billion.

Didi said that China's total exports for the January-November 2023 period reached 56.57 billion US dollars. It is projected that the export value to China by the end of 2023 will reach 60 billion US dollars.

"Of course the target will increase by 2024, in 2023 it is estimated that after December data comes out at least US$60 billion. Next year (2024) if we average it will increase by 2.5 percent, God willing, it can be US$65-70 billion", said Didi quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, January 4.

The increase in export targets is an effort to improve China's export performance, which has decreased in 2023.

In 2022, exports to China will be recorded at USD 65.9 billion.

Didi explained that the decline in export performance did not only occur with China.

This is due to the decline in global commodity prices.

"Actually, we have optimism that our exports are still strong, our export competitiveness is still good in the world and it is hoped that the expectations conveyed by WTO will be better in 2024," said Didi.

The Ministry of Trade has prepared several programs to boost export growth to China in 2024, one of which is the exhibition of Indonesian products in several provinces of the country.

"In 2024 we will add several programs to China, for example we are working with several provinces in China to be able to show off our products there, such as expo," said Didi.
