The Ministry Of Transportation Reduces Traffic Congestion During Christmas And New Year Through Free Homecoming To 11 Cities

The Ministry of Transportation is trying to reduce congestion and traffic accidents due to massive community movements during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays by providing free homecoming to 11 cities.

"This is a form of concern and the presence of the state to facilitate the community, hopefully this program can be useful and can also reduce the rate of accidents that will occur during Christmas and New Year," said Head of the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT) of the Ministry of Transportation Robby Kurniawan when releasing a free homecoming bus at the Pulogebang Terminal. Head of BKT Robby said that the high traffic accident made the Minister of Transportation take a policy to hold free homecoming programs during Christmas and New Year.

He expressed his appreciation to all parties and stakeholders from Organda, TNI-Polri, the Department of Transportation and all related parties who have supported and implemented the free homecoming program well.

"We pray that ladies and gentlemen who will travel safely on their way to their destination to meet their families and then in time they can return here in good health too," he said.

Similarly. Plt. Head of the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) Suharto said that the implementation of the Christmas and New Year's Free Homecoming was held again after going through the COVID-19 period because he paid attention to the results of the BKT survey.

"This free homecoming is to provide services at once in order to maintain order, we have also repeatedly appealed to this free homecoming for the public not to use private vehicles, especially on motorbikes because the highest level of facilities is the use of motorbikes, so we will be here to provide comfort for social security," said Suharto.

The 11 free homecoming destination cities provided by the Ministry of Transportation are Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, Cilacap, Purwokerto, Wonosobo, Surabaya, Kediri, Malang and Madiun.

Based on the plan and operation, the free homecoming quota amounted to 3,600 participants with 90 buses. The bus was divided into 27 buses departing from the Kampung Rambutan Terminal and 63 other buses departed from the Pulogebang Integrated Terminal at the same time.

In addition to free homecoming, the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation has also provided means for motorcycle trucks that departed on December 22, 2023 yesterday from Terminal A Pondok Cabe Tangerang City.
