Mahfud MD Reveals Many Diplomats Entrusted By Parties, Recruitment Process Must Be Reviewed

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate Mahfud MD mentioned the policy of recruiting diplomats, where the diplomat recruitment process must be reviewed to improve quality. According to him, the current quality of diplomats is not good because there are many diplomats from party deposits.

"This is a diplomatic problem, actually you are normative. If you are diplomatic, I think the diplomat recruitment system must be reviewed. In the past, our diplomats were good now, sometimes there are party deposits," said Mahfud during the 2024 Cawapres Debate, Friday, December 22.

Mahfud said that after the diplomats entrusted them to work, they did not understand the duties carried out. Under these conditions, the quality of Indonesian diplomats has decreased. So they do not understand his duties as a diplomat.

"If it hasn't been approved yet, then it's not clear that you don't understand the basis of diplomacy," he said.

Mahfud said that if given authority, diplomacy will be reorganized. So that the diplomatic recruitment process must be purely in order to understand its duties and of course prioritize the interests of the state.

"So diplomacy is regulated to return to life, people who meet the requirements," he said
