Helping The National Economy, The Ministry Of Industry Appreciates IKM

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) appreciates the role of small and medium industries that have contributed to national economic growth through the IKMA 2023 celebration.

"IKM plays an important role in strengthening the industrial structure and contributing to the growth of the national economy. This is because the IKM sector contributes to the absorption of labor, equitable distribution of welfare and poverty alleviation," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the 2023 Gebyar IKMA event at The Kasablanka Hall, Jakarta, Thursday, December 14.

Minister of Industry Agus explained that currently the IKM population is 4.19 million business units or dominates up to 99.7 percent of the total industrial business units in Indonesia.

In addition, IKM has absorbed 12.67 million workers or contributed 65.52 percent of the total industrial workforce. "In fact, it contributed 21.44 percent of the total industrial output value," he said.

Therefore, the Ministry of Industry appreciates IKM players through the Gebyar IKMA 2023 event. In this activity, awards were held for a number of competitions in the field of IKM such as awarding the winners of the Indonesia Food Innovation (IFI) competition, Indonesia Fashion and Craft Award (IFCA), and Startup For Industry (S4I).

Carrying the theme Innovate Locally, Thrive Globally: Building Sustainable Ecosystem through Small and Medium Industries, Gebyar IKMA 2023 as a commitment and concrete step of the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry in encouraging the creation and strengthening of IKM which is not only innovative, but also environmentally friendly and meets the principles of sustainability, as well as encouraging a conducive business climate.

"I invite all aspects of society, associations, communities, ministries/agencies, and private roles to jointly collaborate to support Indonesian IKM to advance and develop into the global share," he said.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Small and Medium Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, said that the implementation of Gebyar IKMA 2023 is also expected to provide new energy for IKM players to always maintain and increase consistency in producing quality, innovative and competitive domestic products, both in the national and global markets.

Reni explained that there are three competitions whose peak events have been held, namely the Indonesia Food Innovation (IFI) which is a program for food and beverage IKM players to get guidance and assistance in innovating.

Thus, being able to answer the challenges of better food and nutrition security, as well as promoting sustainable agriculture.

In addition, the Indonesia Fashion and Craft Awards (IFCA) competition, which is a program for young Indonesian designers to have innovative products that have a positive impact, especially on post-pandemic economic recovery.

There is also the Startup For Industry (Startup4industry) competition, which is a program that seeks to encourage the younger generation to make technology a solution provider for the Industry.

"IKM recipients of awards in each program and category will get priority coaching, trophies, certificates and prizes of coaching money," he explained.

For your information, in the series of Gebyar IKMA 2023, the Directorate General of IKMA of the Ministry of Industry facilitated an exhibition attended by 113 assisted IKM consisting of finalists in the 2023 competition, alumni participating in the IFI competition, IFCA, Startup4industry, Creative Business Incubator, and IKM leading the metal-based Home Decoration sector at the Mosaic Walk and the Basic Floor Food Society Mall Kota Kasablanka, on 12-17 December 2023.
