RELX Wins Top Rank Vape Brand With Best ESG Implementation From S&P Global

JAKARTA - RELX won first place in the field of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation from S&P Global in the global e-cigarette (vape) industry on 27 October.

In the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) conducted by S&P Global, RELX recorded a value above the industry average with a score of up 13 percent compared to last year. This success is supported by sustainable product innovation, business ethics, talent development, company focus on greenhouse gas emissions, and company information disclosure.

General Manager of RELX International Indonesia, Yudhistira Eka Saputra said, RELX always views the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) as one of the company's core competencies.

"The acquisition of RELX's first rank in the field of ESG implementation from S&P Global in the e-cigarette industry proves that in the midst of competition with other electric cigarette brands, RELX comes as a brand that considers environmental and social sustainability in every operational step," he said in a written statement, Wednesday, December 7.

The S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is one of the most comprehensive annual evaluations in the world towards the company's sustainability practices, through a comprehensive, rigorous, and transparent quantitative assessment model. This year, RELX is one of the 13,000 companies participating in the 2023 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.

Some of the efforts made by RELX International to comply with all ESG-related provisions are by forming an ESG committee at the board of directors level, integrating ESG into the company's long-term development strategy, as well as combining ESG indicators into the company's decision-making.

In addition, RELX has included the ESG in a series of supply chains where the company routinely conducts independent ESG assessments annually of major suppliers. RELX also conducts a third-party audit of suppliers to evaluate their compliance with the RELX Code of Ethics for Business Partners and to meet the SA8000 Standard requirements.

In addition, Indonesia's International RELX commitment to running business is in line with the principles of responsibility to the community and the environment, one of which is realized by cooperating with the waste management of the Packaging Fleet in carrying out cooperation in managing electronic waste entitled Waste Collecting Pilot Indonesia 2023. In this program, RELX provides special boxes for the collection of cartridges, devices, and other single-use RELX products for recycling.

Thanks to these efforts, in 2022, RELX won the "A" rating from MSCI ESG Ratings. In the future, RELX will continue to work closely with stakeholders to develop a sustainable electric cigarette industry.
