Urban Mobility Becomes The Backbone Of Transportation At IKN

The Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) revealed that urban mobility is the backbone of transportation at IKN.

"The IKNACKbone is urban mobility," said Chief Urban Mobility OIKN Resdiansyah or called Dian, quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.

According to Dian, the transportation sector should not be released by what is called land use and transport interaction.

This is because every time there is a new area development, the backbone is transportation.

The capital city of Nusantara was built by adopting the concept of a 10 minute city, so that people can move quickly using public transportation.

"Nusantara was built by adopting 10 minutes city, and we make sure it is active mobility, namely walking, cycling, and using public transportation as a priority," said Dian.

IKN is designed so that people when doing mobility to work, from using public transportation via bus stops or stations to work, it only takes 10 minutes, with the concept of urban mobility.

Based on the Attachment of Law No.3/2022 concerning the State Capital, the main goal of the IKN plan is to create a future city that does not depend on private vehicles with the concept of developing transit-oriented areas or transit-oriented deuelopment (TOD).

The goal is for communities to live, work and play properly, a community that allows more pedestrians, cyclists, and transiters, and can reduce the need for compact daily and city travel.

IKN was built as a compact and high-density environment that functions as a building block for the city.

This environment applies the concept of mixed-use land management to support reducing the need for travel.

Then provide all the functions needed to ensure access of 10 minutes to all basic and public facilities as well as open green spaces that can be reached on foot, cycling, or using autonomous vehicles.
