JAKARTA - PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (BJTM) or bankjatim freezes positive performance achievements in the third quarter of 2023.

President Director of BJTM Busrul Iman said that up to the ninth month of 2023, through several implementations of the strategy launched by the bank of East Java as a whole, it relatively met the target.

This is reflected in asset growth of 8.69 percent (YoY) or IDR 107 trillion with a contribution from the increase in productive assets, namely securities ownership which rose 10.29 percent (YoY).

"Credit distribution grew 12.61 percent (YoY) and the company's productive asset management generated interest income which grew 3.8 percent (YoY) with a net profit in September 2023 of IDR 1.09 trillion," he explained in the presentation of the performance of Quarter III in Jakarta, Monday, October 30.

Busrul conveyed that in the third quarter of 2023 the bankjatim massively continued to develop businesses outside the captive market. For example, aggressively distributing productive credit, extracting low-cost funds for the upper segment and penetration of foreign exchange services.

"Development of digitalization for all aspects, both business processes and the provision of digital products and services, foreign exchange services are also carried out to provide new banking experiences for existing customers and to achieve new market areas," he said.

Furthermore, in terms of credit, during the third quarter of 2023, the bank of East Java recorded an increase in credit growth of 12.61 percent (YoY). This growth is above the average growth of the banking industry sector as of September, which is at the level of 8.96 percent (YoY).

Meanwhile, the bankjatim's highest credit growth occurred in the productive sector (commercial & SME) at 25.44 percent (YoY) and the consumer sector at 4.74 percent (YoY).

"We think access to financing for business actors must be opened as wide as possible in order to create new jobs. The growth in lending is a reflection of the economy that is running and indicates an increase in demand for goods and services from the community," said Busrul.

Busrul explained that the credit growth that had been achieved by the bank had made the financing ratio to fund management (LDR) getting better. This is reflected in the LDR ratio in the third quarter of 2022 of 55.40 percent, then increasing to 61.49 percent in the third quarter of 2023.

According to Busrul, the improvement in loan quality shows that the quality of bankjatim credit is getting healthier and is a sign of recovery from several economic sectors.
