Tourist Visits Reach 1.12 Million In July, Up Since The Beginning Of The Year

JAKARTA The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that foreign tourist visits (tourists) in Indonesia reached 1.12 million visits.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, BPS Pudji Ismartini, said this number increased 5.66 percent compared to June 2023 (month-to-month/mtm) and rose 74.07 percent compared to the same month last year (year-on-year/yoy).

"Tourists visiting Indonesia in July 2023 were dominated by foreign tourists from Malaysia (13.96 percent), Australia (12.74 percent), and Singapore (9.78 percent)," he told reporters, Friday, September 1.

According to Pudji, cumulatively foreign tourist visits from January to July 2023 increased by 196.85 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

"This increase in visits was mainly recorded at the airport gates of Ngurah Rai and Soekarno Hatta, each increasing by 366.72 percent and 185.83 percent," he said.

For information, the increase in foreign tourist visits to Indonesia has generally occurred since the beginning of the year. In January 2023, foreign tourists visited less than 800,000 visits. This figure continued to increase until last July, which was 1.12 million visits.

As for the Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) in star hotels, in July 2023 it reached 54.63 percent, up 4.86 yoy points and up 0.96 points on a mtm basis.

"In line with the TPK of star hotels, the TPK of non-star hotels in July 2023 reached 25.74 percent, up 1.05 points year on year and up 1.16 points month to month," he said.

Meanwhile, the average length of guests staying at five-star hotels increased by 0.07 points compared to last year, reaching 1.68 days.
