Plans To Acquire Komodo Mandek Airport, This Is An Explanation From The Boss Of Angkasa Pura I

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I plans to acquire Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This process has been going on since last year, but there has been no progress, aka stagnation. The reason is, until now there has been no decision from the Ministry of Transportation.

AP I President Director Faik Fahmi said that his party had sent a letter to the Ministry of Transportation regarding interest in managing the airport.

Faik said, until now the acquisition plan is still under discussion within the Ministry of Transportation. However, Faik admitted that he did not know the follow-up to the previous request.

"Our Komodo Airport acquisition has submitted a proposal to be able to operate. I don't know what the process there (Ministry of Transportation) is like," he said at a media gathering, in Jakarta, written Thursday, August 31.

Despite stagnation at the Ministry of Transportation, Faik admitted that his party had explored the cooperation of a number of investors.

"We have explored strategic partners. We are still waiting because there is a process within the Ministry of Transportation," he said.

AP I Aims For 20 Strategic Mintras

Previously, Faik said that he had submitted an airport management interest letter to the Ministry of Transportation. This means that the management is still waiting for approval from the regulator, after the departure of PT Cinta Abadi Flores (CAF).

"Because they don't work, so we take over, but when we take over we will cooperate with strategic partners," said Faik, quoted on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Faik said that his party wanted to target strategic partners who were able to boost the number of passengers to Labuan Bajo, so that it did not only depend on the partner's financial capacity.

"So the target later, beautification and capacity building of airports in Labuan Bajo is not only supported by strategic partners who have financial capacity, but strategic partners who can encourage traffic as well. If possible I can bring in 10, if there is a strategic partner, but it is hoped that it can reach 20, that is one of our plans," he said.

According to Faik, Labuan Bajo is one of the super priority destinations, so the increase in visits to airport services needs to be improved.

"Why is this important because Labuan Bajo is a super priority destination, it is also certain that the airport can support an increase in the number of tourism in Labuan Bajo," he said.
