JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is still reviewing the possibility of adding an incentive to convert electric vehicles from the original Rp7 million.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana admitted that currently the plan to increase the amount of conversion motor subsidies has entered the discussion stage at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
"Yes, we have (discussed)!" said Dadan when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Monday, August 28.
Dadan said that the discourse on adding this incentive was because the incentive policy of Rp. 7 million was considered not yet attractive to the public to convert fuel motorcycles into electric motr.
"As of now, it's Rp. 7 million, right, but we're looking at how many Rp. 7 million doesn't register, is this lacking or what? That's also one of the things that will be discussed," concluded Dadan.
This year, the government targets as many as 50,000 units of fuel motors to be converted into electricity, while by 2024 the target will increase to 150,000 units.
Based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, so far only around 4,500 people have registered to convert their motorbikes.
Previously, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil revealed that there was a government discourse to increase the incentive to convert electric motorcycles from IDR 7 million to IDR 10 million.
