Two Hikers Missing on Bondowoso Pyramid Mountain Still Being Searched for

Banyuwangi - The Search and Rescue (SAR) Office of Banyuwangi, East Java, deployed the Jember SAR Post Rescue Team to search for two climbers who were reported missing on Mount Pyramid, Curahdami District, Bondowoso Regency.

Two climbers who were reported missing and were currently in search of the Pyramid of Bondowoso, namely MF (51) a resident of Surabaya, and INL (35) a guide from Bondowoso.

"After we received the report, the Jember SAR Post Rescue Team was immediately deployed to the location to carry out a joint search operation with the joint SAR elements," said Head of the Banyuwangi SAR Office I Made Oka Astawa as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 4.

According to him, the Banyuwangi SAR optimizes all available resources and carries out a search according to the operational plan while prioritizing the safety of personnel.

The incident began on Saturday (2/8) at around 07.00 WIB, two climbers handed over a red motorcycle to local residents before starting to climb to Mount Pyramid.

However, as of Tuesday (4/8) the two have not returned to pick up their motorcycles, and this has caused concern.

Based on the results of coordination with the Curahdami District Muspika, it is suspected that the two climbers were on the wrong track or lost and then asked for help from the SAR Team.

"The SAR operation involves the Jember SAR Post Rescue Team, BPBD, TNI-Polri, the Curahdami Subdistrict Government, PMI Bondowoso, and a number of SAR potential and volunteers," said Oka.
