JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Internasional EP developed the Buzi Block in eastern Africa, namely Mozambique. This is marked by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Buzi Hydrocarbons Pte. Ltd (BHPL).

Both parties will conduct studies and analysis in an effort to operate the Buzi Block, as well as the distribution of data regarding the Buzi Block to study field-fields.

In addition, it will also review the potential integration between upstream, midstream and downstream activities to produce gas as fuel for power plants.

BHPL is a subsidiary of PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (EMP), which owns 75 percent of the shares in Buzi Block, Mozambique, and acts as operators in the block.

On this occasion, BHPL President Taufan Rotorasiko hopes to start cooperation with Pertamina International soon, so that gas reserves in Buzi Block can be commercialized to supply the fuel needs of power plants in Mozambique and its surroundings.

EMP President Director Syailendra S. Bakrie also hopes that both parties can immediately produce gas from the Buzi Block, so that it can solve the problem of gas supply shortages for power plants in Mozambique, South Africa, and neighboring countries.

Meanwhile, EMP Finance Director Edoardus Ardianto appreciated this collaboration, which seeks to monetize large reserves and gas resources in Buzi Block.

"We believe Pertamina International has the ability it takes to accelerate the development of our Buzi Block in Mozambique," said Edoardus.

PT Pertamina Internasional EP or PIEP is a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) which handles oil and gas exploration and production activities outside Indonesia, which in 2019 has been operating in 13 countries around the world.
