JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Directorate General of Oil and Gas stated that the Cirebon - Semarang (Cisem) Phase I Natural Gas Transmission Pipe Construction Project (Semarang - Batang) has been completed and the status of the Cisem I pipeline is currently declared Ready for Gas in.

Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji said, after this stage, the next process is the implementation of commissioning.

"The Cisem Phase I pipeline has been completed and the "ready for gas in" coincides with the commemoration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day. The completion of the Cisem I Pipe Development which coincides with the Indonesian Independence Day, hopefully, can be a momentum to revive us by providing cheap energy services by building energy infrastructure in this case, the gas pipeline infrastructure is financed by the government," said Tutuka, quoted on Saturday, August 19.

Tutuka hopes that the gas that will flow through CISEM Phase I in addition to being used for industrial needs can also be used for the benefit of the community through the city gas network (jargas).

"We hope that what has been done so far can be utilized as much as possible. For those who have an interest, one of them is industry. The industry is here in the Kendal and Batang industrial areas. Apart from industry, some of it is also used for gas networks in this passed area," Tutuka hoped.

Tutuka added that the pipeline that was built at this time was only connected from Semarang to Batang, it is planned that in the future it will be continued and connected to Cirebon.

"While only connecting Semarang to Batang, in the future we really hope to connect again to Cirebon and Kandang Haur, thus connected natural gas pipelines from East Java to West Java and even more to Sumatra," concluded Tutuka.

The construction of the Phase I Cisem Pipe is one of the Government's efforts to improve access to natural gas for the entire community and industry. The distribution of natural gas through this transmission pipeline is expected to increase the accessibility of natural gas, most of which comes from gas fields in East Java, to the Central Java region to meet the needs of developing industries.

For information, the Phase I Cisem Pipeline Project is a project to build a 20-inch gas transmission pipeline for approximately 60 km from Semarang to Batang. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Directorate General of Oil and Gas initiated this development to meet gas needs in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK) with a projected gas requirement of up to 39.42 MMSCFD from 26 companies until 2026, Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) with a projected gas requirement of 25.83 MMSCFD from 14 companies at KITB Phase I until 2028, and meeting the gas needs of other industrial areas along the Cisem transmission pipeline phase I.

Natural gas that will be channeled through the Cisem gas pipeline comes from the Jambaran Tiung Biru (Blora Working Area) Field, Long Term Plan (LTP) WK Cepu (Cendana Field - Old Alas) and Tuban WK (Sur-2 Field).
