Ministry Of PUPR Says 10 Dams Are Ready To Be Inaugurated This Year

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Water Resources said, as many as 10 dams are ready to be inaugurated this year.

"The performance targets of the Directorate General of Natural Resources in 2023 include the construction of 32 dams consisting of 12 ongoing dams continuing to the next TA, 5 new dams, and 15 ongoing dams completed by FY 2023," said Acting Director General of Water Resources Jarot Widyoko in a written statement, Tuesday, July 11.

A total of 15 dams targeted for completion this year, namely the Keureuto Dam, Rukoh, Lau Simeme, Margatiga, Karian, Cipanas, Leuwikeris, Jlantah, Sepaku Semoi, Sidan, Tiu Sfor, Temef, Lolak, Pamukkulu, and Ameroro.

Of the 15 dams, 10 of them will also be ready to be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) this year, namely Lau Simeme Dam, Margatiga Dam, Karian Dam, Cipanas Dam, Sepaku Semoi Dam, Tiu Suntuk Dam, Temef Dam, Lolak Dam, Pamukkulu Dam, and Ameroro Dam.

Jarot said that the Directorate General of Water Resources received a budget allocation of IDR 47.13 trillion in 2023. Until now, the budget that has been absorbed is 32.24 percent with physical progress reaching 34.96 percent.

In addition, at TA 2023 the Directorate General of Water Resources also carried out the construction of 5,500 ha irrigation areas, rehabilitation of 105,000 ha irrigation networks, construction of 13 reservoirs, provision of raw water with a capacity of 2.61 m3/second, construction of 114.21 km of flood control and coastal safety, and irrigation of 21 million m3 of Sidoarjo mud.

Meanwhile, for labor-intensive work, the total labor-intensive ceiling in the field of water resources for FY 2023 is IDR 5 trillion, consisting of activities of the Irrigation Water Administration Improvement Acceleration Program (P3TGAI) as well as operations and maintenance (OP) through labor-intensive implementation patterns. The employment target is 281,000 people.

For the 2024 FY, the Directorate General of Water Resources received an indicative ceiling of IDR 44 trillion allocated for the Natural Resources Resilience program of IDR 41.45 trillion and management support of IDR 2.54 trillion.

"The priority programs in the water resources sector for FY 2024, namely the construction of 18 dams, construction of 4,000 ha irrigation areas, rehabilitation of 38,000 ha irrigation networks, construction of 7 reservoirs, provision of raw water with a capacity of 2.5 m3/second, construction of 57.5 km flood control and coastal safety, disbursement of 21 million m3 Sidoarjo mud, and construction of wells in drought areas," added Jarot.
