JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has not voiced his opinion regarding the stalling of the export of a number of mineral commodities due to the inspection of the content of rare earth metals (LTJ) or rare earths.

"NPI is a process, it's only 40 to 50 percent, there must be other mineral components in it, there are iron, various things like that. Yes, it's only 50 percent," he explained.
He added that the government is currently mapping the potential and flow of rare earth metal management so that investment activities and downstream industries can continue.
On the other hand, he continued, the government also wants to ensure that the existence of LTJ can be managed better so that it does not cause problems in the future.
Regarding regulations, Bahlil said his authority was in the upstream mining sector.
Meanwhile, regulations regarding the processing industry and products are in other technical ministries, while export policies are the responsibility of ministries dealing with trade.
Therefore, the preparation of rare earth metal governance requires cross-ministry and agency coordination.
"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is the head. Industry permits and products are in other ministries, while exports are the authority of the ministry that regulates trade. So this is not the authority of one ministry alone," said Bahlil.
