Questioning Discounted Toll Fees Granting Ahead Of Eid 2023, Ministry Of PUPR Says This

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) recently proposed giving discounted toll rates as an incentive for travelers who want to leave early.

MTI assesses that this can overcome congestion from the movement of people going home together during the 2023 Eid holiday season.

Responding to this, the Secretary of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the PUPR Ministry, Junoasmono, said that his party fully supports the option of giving this discount.

His party has appealed to all Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) to provide these incentives.

According to him, there is only one BUJT that has been confirmed to provide discounted toll rates, namely Jasa Marga.

"So, we, from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, are very supportive of course regarding the provision of incentives. Currently, all BUJTs are reviewing the possibility or amount that can be given during this Lebaran homecoming, but there have been several responses to us," said Triono in the Mudik discussion. "And what has been positive is that Jasa Marga from Jakarta to Cikampek has already given a 20 percent discount," he added.

Triono said, the public should be patient waiting for the rate discount. According to him, in the near future, there will be additional toll rate discount announcements from several other BUJTs.

"Hopefully in the near future we can convey to the public that it has been fixed to provide discounts to the public for certain sections," he said.

Triono said, the toll rate discount will be determined according to the agreement between the PUPR Ministry and the BUJTs.

"Of course, the date will be adjusted to the date we have agreed on for homecoming and return flows," he concluded.
