JAKARTA - The Regional Development Bank (BPD) of Southeast Sulawesi (Bank Sultra) is expected to have a significant impact on regional economic growth and improve the welfare of the people in the province.

"I, as the Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government and as the Controlling Shareholder of PT Bank Sultra, hope that Bank Sultra can have a significant impact on the progress of Southeast Sulawesi," said Southeast Sulawesi Governor Ali Mazi quoting Antara.

Southeast Sulawesi Governor Ali Mazi opened the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) for the 2022 Fiscal Year and the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS LB) Bank Sultra.

Governor Ali Mazi hopes that the GMS of Bank Sultra will be a valuable moment in producing brilliant ideas and thoughts for the advancement of Bank Sultra.

Governor Ali Mazi said he was happy with Bank Sultra's performance report throughout 2022 because in the midst of increasingly fierce business competition, Bank Sultra was able to increase its business profit optimally which became a reference for even better steps.

"If you look at the trend of profit created by Bank Sultra in the last five years, it continues to show a positive increase even with the support of all shareholders that has not been maximized," said Ali Mazi.

Ali Mazi further said that Bank Sultra must be able to manage local government-owned funds well, be able to play a role in regional infrastructure development to encourage the achievement of improving community welfare.

"Because if this bank performs well, the profit earned will return to local revenue or PAD," said Ali Mazi.

Bank Sultra President Director Abdul Latif said third party funds in the position of the third quarter of 2022 reached Rp9.55 billion. As for credit as of September 2022, his party has disbursed around Rp8.07 billion.

He admitted that Bank Sultra was committed to playing an active role in building and lifting the Southeast Sulawesi economy.

"Alhamdulillah, our credit is disbursed, although it is undeniable that the weakness of the national economy has also affected Bank Sultra's credit growth which reached 5.21 percent. However, we are still optimistic that we can contribute to supporting the economy in Southeast Sulawesi," said Latif.

Latif emphasized that his party is committed to improving services to the community. Various innovations and breakthroughs are presented to provide convenience for customers.

"For example, adding banking service features, providing third-party fund product facilities in the form of competitive debit, mobile banking and SMS banking card services and increasing the number of Bank Sultra ATM machine networks," he said.
