The Ministry Of Transportation Has Held 177 Sea Transportation Trayeks In 2023

The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation carries out strategic activities to organize Public Service Obligations for Sea Transportation for Fiscal Year 2023.

The focus of these activities is on serving transportation connectivity to remote areas of the country.

Director General of Sea Transportation Arif Toha revealed that during this strategic activity, the Ministry of Transportation determined 177 routes.

In detail, 39 routes of Sea Toll Ships, 116 routes of Pioneer Ships, 6 routes of Special Transportation Ships and 16 routes of Rede Ships.

The implementation of the Sea Transportation Public Service Obligation is carried out through 2 (two) procurement mechanisms, namely through an assignment mechanism to national sea transportation companies owned by state-owned enterprises (BUMN). Also, the public auction mechanism in order to provide business competition opportunities for private sea transportation companies.

The implementation of sea transportation in 2023 is marked by the inaugural release of the KM Sea Toll Road.

Kendhaga Nusantara 7 which served the T-14 route some time ago at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.

Arif revealed that the Ministry of Transportation is committed to continuing to improve sea transportation services and inviting all parties to collaborate and work together to optimize this service for implementing public service obligations for sea transportation.

"Therefore, support is needed from all parties so that community mobilization between islands, distribution of basic goods and essentials to disadvantaged, remote, outermost and border areas (3TP) and distribution of livestock to the regions can continue without any obstacles, especially from the availability of sea transportation facilities," said Director General Arif in an official statement, Friday, 28

Arif explained, in general, every type of sea transportation has an emphasis on hope or purpose in its implementation.

"For example, the Pioneer Ship is a sea transportation that is highly relied on by the people in the 3TP area considering the absence of other types of transportation (land and air) operating in the area," he said.

Meanwhile, continued Arif, the Sea Tollship Ship is a permanent and scheduled sea transportation between islands, starting from the base port to the stop port, especially in the 3TP area which is expected to reduce price disparities.

Meanwhile, the Rede ship is designated as a feeder or a liaison to ports or places where the main ship cannot stop by due to incomplete port facilities.

"The Special Ship for Transportation is intended to increase the effectiveness of livestock transportation activities and to support food security programs, especially in the field of self-sufficiency in beef in Indonesia," he said.
