JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited the Arrangement of the Bunaken Tourism Area, Manado, North Sulawesi, on Friday, January 20.

During the working visit, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Director General (Dirjen) Cipta Karya Diana Kusumastuti, President Director of PT Nindya Karya Haedar A Karim, and Director of Production and HSE of PT Firmansyah.

The Bunaken Beach structuring project with Malalayang has been implemented from 2020 to 2022 with a contract value of IDR 96 billion.

The construction was carried out on an area of 19,000 m2 by contractor PT Nindya Karya and supervisory consultant PT Virama Karya.

The arrangement of the Bunaken area includes the construction of a new dock, environmental roads, marker gates, street furniture, and a cultural stage that can be used by the local community to carry out various activities.

The construction itself carries the concept of Ecotourism Village, so that rural nuances are maintained, one of which is empowering local residents' houses to become homestays by maintaining Minahasa's distinctive architecture.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the arrangement of the tourist area was aimed at supporting the development of tourism destinations.

"Especially to become an international standard tourism and have an environmental perspective in Manado City," said Basuki.

On the same occasion, President Jokowi said the government had organized the Bunaken Tourism Area to increase the attractiveness of foreign tourists.

Not only that, various supporting infrastructures were also prepared to make the marine park tourism area better.

"We have fixed the appearance of his face, the homestay for tourists has also been prepared. We hope that foreign tourists can return to Manado, North Sulawesi, especially in Bunaken. I see that in early February tourists will start to enter," said Jokowi.

Jokowi said the government was ready to welcome the visit of all foreign tourists, especially in the Bunaken Tourism Area after the arrangement.

"We want to improve the infrastructure, we also pay attention to Special Economic Zones (SEZs) for tourism, so that Manado, North Sulawesi, is truly a priority tourist destination," he said.

For your information, Bunaken Island has a strategic role in tourism activities as an entry point for tourists who will go to water areas or islands.

Therefore, making arrangements on Bunaken Island is important to create areas that are representative and have environmental quality, as well as good service for tourists.
