JAKARTA - Pertamina's gas subholding, PT PGN Tbk, is realizing support for the food industry by distributing natural gas to PT Petrokimia Gresik (PKG). On Monday January 16, the first distribution of gas or natural gas was carried out from the Jambaran Tiung Biru (JTB) Field to PT Petrokomia Gresik.
PKG will absorb 15-17 MMSCFD of natural gas. In distributing gas from the JTB Field, it utilizes the Gresik-Semarang Transmission Pipeline which is managed by Subholding Gas affiliate, namely PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas).
"Gas distribution to PKG is also part of PGN's steps to carry out government assignments to support fertilizer production to support food security in Indonesia. As well as being a support for the government in utilizing the Gresem Pipeline and the JTB Field which were recently on stream", said PGN Director of Sales and Operations, Faris Aziz, in a statement on Wednesday, January 18.
PGN continues to support the fertilizer industry in growing in the post-COVID-19 pandemic. The distribution of natural gas to PKG is PGN's commitment to implementing Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 134K of 2021 to provide a stimulus for the fertilizer industry to revive.
Faris also said that Pertamina Group supports food security to maintain national economic growth. It is hoped that the availability of natural gas at a more competitive and environmentally friendly price, can support the dynamics of domestic fertilizer production and sustainable agricultural productivity. In addition, it can boost the competitiveness of PKG as a fertilizer producer in Indonesia.

In the future, natural gas services for the fertilizer sector will be further improved. Through the collaboration of the Subholding Gas Group with PKG some time ago, Pertagas has also signed an MoU to distribute gas to the development of a new fertilizer factory owned by PKG, both for natural gas supply needs and optimization of existing natural gas infrastructure.
"The distribution of natural gas to PKG has strategic value to increase the expansion of the benefits of the natural gas network through the Gresem Pipeline in 2023. Until now, and in the future, PGN remains committed to providing natural gas for the fertilizer industry. Apart from the supply, we also have to maintain the reliability of gas infrastructure so that gas distribution to PKG is more secure, effective, and efficient", concluded Faris.
