BUMN Srikandi: Equivalence Gender Lekat Is Related To Company Performance

JAKARTA - BUMN's Srikandi Communications Coordinator Nina Kurnia Dewi said the issue of gender equality is closely related to the company's performance, not just a problem related to the balance of the roles of men and women.

"The presence of women is not only gender issue. The existence of women is business issue, because many studies show that the presence of women in top management can improve the performance of their respective companies," he said at the Mother's Day Celebration and Launch of the BUMN Berkarya and Bertalenta program in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday 23 December.

Nina, who is also the Director of Finance, MSDM, and Risk Management of Perum LKBN ANTARA, explained that women do have more difficult challenges because they must be able to maintain a balance between their role in the family and work.

"Through this BUMN Srikandi community, we can prove well that our companies in each BUMN and the Ministry of SOEs strongly encourage women to work and be talented. Women can show themselves that they are equal to men," he said.

SOE Minister Erick Thohir targets women's leadership in BUMN to reach 25 percent by the end of 2023. Currently, women's leadership at BUMN, specifically at the level of directors, has only reached 15 percent.

Erick assessed that one of the big challenges to achieving this target was the lack of talent pools in BUMN. He hopes that the Srikandi BUMN Berkarya and Bertalenta program will be an acceleration step to achieve this target.

Erick also assessed that a talent pool would make it easier for SOEs to find new talents in SOEs without the need to bother looking from outside SOEs.

"So if we look for future leaders for SOE directors, we have sufficient talent pools, we don't look for them, but we already have a system because we prioritize them," said Erick Thohir.
