JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Rida Mulyana revealed that Indonesia has a very large potential for New Renewable Energy (EBT) or lebih from 3,600 Giga Watt (GW). The energy source consists of hydro, solar, bioenergy, bayu or wind, geothermal heat or geothermal energy and sea energy spread throughout the country.

"This huge potential is a strong capital to support us in realizing national energy resilience," he said when speaking at the 2023 Indonesian Business Challenge Business, Thursday, December 15.

He continued, currently the Government has supported the development of EBT through strategies, including on-grid PLT EBT development.

"And this is based on the PLN RUPTL for the 2021-2030 period, including floating PLTS. The installed capacity of the EBT PLT in 2025 is around 18.5 GW," he continued.

Until now, the target implementation of Roof PLTS in 2025 is determined to be no less than 3.6 GW.

In addition, the Government is also converting Diesel Power Plants (PLTD) to EBT power plants.

"In the middle there is a gas power plant as a transition and we have targeted 2025 of around 400 MW or almost half a GW," added Rida.

In the future, Rida continued, the government will also continue the mandatory B30 or diesel mixed with 30 percent palm oil. By 2050, it is targeted to implement B30 of approximately 11.6 million KL. For now, the implementation of B30 has reached 9.6 million KL.

The government will also continue the biomass co-firing program and it is targeted that by 2025 it will reach 10.2 million tons.

Meanwhile, the provision of modern energy with renewable energy through the construction of a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) is targeted to be installed at 1.36 MW by 2025.

"This is very small but spread and really helps our brothers and sisters who live in the 3T area," added Rida.

The government will also continue to explore geothermal with APBN funds and it is targeted that by 2025 it will prepare 9 geothermal areas with a potential development of approximately 295 MW.

"In addition, there are other supporting programs, namely the existing PLTU retirement and we will carry out this. And to note, there will be no new PLTU development since 2026, and there will be no extension for existing contracts," he said.
