PALEMBANG - Regional development bank PT Bank Sumsel Babel (BSB) achieved a positive performance by posting a profit of IDR 560 billion as of October 2022.

President Director of BSB Achmad Syamsudin during the commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of BSB in Palembang, South Sumatra, said this achievement was due to the company's efforts to optimize potential amid the economic downturn caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BSB targets a profit growth of nine percent in 2022 compared to 2021 which is able to record a net profit of IDR 485.29 billion or grow 14.55 percent year on year.

"The growth trend has actually been felt since 2018, although it was hit by a pandemic, BSB is still able to maintain its performance until now," Syamsudin said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 6.

In the last four years, BSB's assets grew from IDR 25 trillion to IDR 31.6 trillion in 2021.

During COVID-19, BSB was able to record eight percent credit growth, as well as third-party funds (DPK) which were able to absorb IDR 600 billion.

The company is also focused on maintaining the ratio of non-performing loans in the range below the 5.0 percent threshold, which was originally 5.51 percent to 2.85 percent.

In October 2022, even though there was an anomaly due to the effect of the increase in fuel prices, BSB was still able to maintain assets in the range of IDR 38.37 trillion.

In fact, the realization of credit disbursement was able to exceed the target of up to IDR 20 trillion as of October 2022.

This positive performance must be maintained, especially with the threat of a crisis in 2023. "We must be aware of a recession, but don't be afraid, and don't be arrogant either," he said.

Towards the end of this year, BSB continues to boost growth by utilizing its resources, especially human resources.

According to him, the system built is capable of supporting the company to win the competition, especially in the readiness of digital infrastructure.

"The system can change, but humans are still in control. In the future, we will focus on managing human resources so that they can be competent in accordance with the changing times," he said.
