Minister Of PUPR Basuki: Dams For IKN Will Be Added

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said that additional dams for the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) would include the Batu Lepek Dam and the Selamatyu Dam.

"In the future, we will also add to build the Batu Lepek Dam and the Selamatyu Dam, while for flood control at IKN the drainage network is being designed to be done immediately," said Minister Basuki while accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on a working visit to IKN, Kalimantan. Timur, as stated by the Ministry of PUPR, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 26.

President Jokowi's visit to IKN on Tuesday (10/25/2022) was aimed at reviewing the progress of basic infrastructure development to support IKN Nusantara's Central Government Core Area (KIPP). One of the basic infrastructures reviewed by the President is the Sepaku Semoi Dam, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.

The Sepaku Semoi Dam is projected as one of the infrastructures for supplying raw water needs and controlling floods in the IKN area.

"With the Sepaku Semoi Dam, the supply of raw water for IKN is still sufficient until 2030," said Basuki.

Until now, the construction progress of the Sepaku Semoi Dam has reached 74.32 percent with works covering preparations, evasion buildings, main dams (main dams), overflow buildings, extraction buildings, as well as hydromechanical and electrical works.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi said that the progress of infrastructure development such as dams, land development, and road access at IKN was going well.

"Land development for the ministry, for the vice-presidential building, for the president's building, I have seen everything in the preparation process. Road infrastructure development has also started, especially the toll road from IKN to Balikpapan. I think this is good progress," President said.

The President said that the overall progress can be seen in January 2023. He also said that in June 2023 the progress of the new economic center will also be seen in IKN, with the entry of investment in the form of government and private partnerships.

"We will see in January, God willing, if not only government buildings, but the private sector, the private sector, investors, PPP (public private partnership) have entered and started. This will make IKN truly a center new economy and we hope it will continue to move," said President Jokowi.
