Minister of Transportation Offers Danish Investors to Participate in Developing Patimban Port

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi offers investors from Denmark and Maersk Line to participate in the development of Patimban Port, Subang, West Java.

The offer was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation Budi when he invited the Danish Ambassador to Indonesia Lars Bo Larsen, together with the shipping line company, Maersk Line, Denmark, to see firsthand the activities at the Patimban Port.

The activity in question is the transportation of as many as 2,025 cars by MV Ships. Siem Curie at Patimban Port who came from Singapore to Batangas/Luzon, Philippines.

"We offer Maersk Line and several investors from several countries to cooperate with PT Pelabuhan Patimban International (PPI) which has been appointed as a private entity to develop Patimban Port. We want this port to develop rapidly", said the Minister of Transportation, in an official statement, Friday, September 16.

Budi explained that the cooperation with Maersk Line is very potential because this company is one of the largest in the world that has the potential for transportation from Asia to Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation assured potential investors that the performance of the Patimban Port so far is quite encouraging.

"This year it has been running and the results are above what we planned. At first, it was targeted to be able to transport 160,000 vehicles, but now it has transported 200,000 vehicles. This shows that Patimban Port has great potential", he said.

On the same occasion, Danish Ambassador Lars Bo Larsen welcomed the offer from the Indonesian Government and was impressed with the performance of the Patimban Port.

According to him, Indonesia has very strong growth going forward, especially in the West Java to Central Java region. "Sea transportation is an important element in ensuring sustainable growth and we are committed to working closely with the Indonesian government", he said.

For your information, the construction of the Patimban Port consists of three stages. Stage 1 consists of two parts, namely Stage 1-1 and Stage 1-2. For Phase 1-1 the construction has been completed and currently, construction will continue to Phase 1-2 in October 2022 and is targeted for completion in 2025.

The Patimban Port is targeted to have the same capacity as the Priok Port, which is 7.5 million TEUs of containers and 600 thousand vehicles per year by 2027.
