Bjorka Hackers Leaked His Personal Data, This Is Erick Thohir's Words

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the theft of personal data is a very serious matter for the public.

Erick considered that taking other people's personal data was a criminal act.

"In the past, what was called crime was that someone entered our house, took things, now they are taking data", he said in an official statement, Monday, September 12.

Regarding this, said Erick, the government continues to improve the system in overcoming this.

Erick also admitted to being a target victim where data such as religion, parents' names, and education were disseminated to the public.

However, Erick admitted that he was not angry even though his personal data had been leaked to the public by hacker Bjorka.

This is because the data is general information and it is normal for the public to know that he is a public official.

"But we must respect each other because there are many data that are not worthy to be published, this is not my data", he explained.

Erick emphasized that efforts to maintain digital sovereignty cannot only be carried out by the government itself but require the support of many parties, ranging from digital experts to Indonesian hackers.

Erick believes that Indonesia can build digital sovereignty by working together.

For example, said Erick, this has been successfully proven by Indonesia while struggling to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Erick, Indonesia's gotong royong (work together) attitude when facing a pandemic is with the involvement and collaboration of all the nation's children.

For this reason, Erick also invites domestic hackers to fight with the government in protecting people's personal data.

"Hackers who feel that they are not appreciated, start also talking to the government so that we don't bring each other down, it's better for us to build our nation. There is nothing wrong now that the government, together with digital experts and hackers, are actually protecting our country against hacker attacks from other countries", said Erick.
