JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani is said to have just held a bilateral meeting with Italian Finance Minister Daniele Franco which was held virtually.

The two state treasurers agreed that the G20 should become an economic forum to help overcome various global risks, such as inflation, energy crises and food crises.

"In order to overcome global economic challenges, the world needs to have a mutually agreed mechanism and this is our common priority at the G20," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani in a press statement quoted on Tuesday, July 12.

According to her, Indonesia as the G20 Presidency will make every effort so that these agreements can be reached in this year's Presidency.

"Such as our establishment of the Financial Intermediary Fund (FIF) for Pandemic Prevention Preparedness and Response (PPR) in the Joint Finance and Health Task Force agenda and a transition framework in the sustainable finance agenda to support a fair and affordable transition," she said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Franco expressed his full support for the Indonesian Presidency at the G20. He is optimistic that Indonesia can help prepare funding for future pandemics and safeguard the world economy.

“Indonesia can continue to consult with other G20 member countries not only in the preparation of the Communique but also in efforts to communicate it to stakeholders outside the G20. This communication is important to strengthen the international community's confidence in the role of the G20 in the midst of global dynamics," said Minister of Finance Franco.

Meanwhile, this bilateral meeting was held on the first day of the Third Meeting of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (FMCBG) which will be held on July 15-16.
