Preventing The Spread Of PMK Outbreaks, Coordinating Minister Airlangga: 3 Million Vaccines Already In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The government continues to make various efforts to handle and control cases of the spread of Foot and Mouth Diseases (FMD). Along with the spread of FMD to various regions, the government has accelerated FMD vaccination. Where 3 million vaccines have arrived in Indonesia.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, encouraged the provision of FMD vaccine to livestock to be accelerated. This is to control FMD cases that have spread in 19 provinces.

As of June 29, 2022, it is recorded in the Ministry of Agriculture data that this FMD disease has spread to 19 provinces and 221 regencies/cities, with a total of 289,430 sick cases, 94,575 cured, 2,940 conditional slaughter, 1,722 deaths, and 1,722 deaths. 91,716 individuals have been vaccinated.

"There are already 3 million doses of vaccine in Indonesia with a budget that has been prepared, so the existing vaccines must be injected immediately", he said in an official statement, Thursday, June 30.

To control the FMD outbreak, the government has also established a Task Force for Handling FMD at the National Level through the Decree of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy as Chair of the PC-PEN Committee, namely Decree No. 2 of 2022.

It should be noted that at this time FMD in addition to infecting cattle, has also infected buffalo, goats, sheep, and pigs. For this reason, the Government will accelerate the handling of this FMD disease, starting by encouraging the Task Force to work quickly, accelerating vaccinations, and regulating livestock traffic.

"There has been a Decree of the Chairperson of the PCPEN Committee Number 2 of 2022 regarding the FMD Handling Task Force, with an Implementing Team, chaired by the Head of BNPB and assisted by 5 Deputy Chairs from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Home Affairs, Coordinating Ministry, TNI and Police", said Airlangga.

In addition, the Minister of Home Affairs Decree Number 31 of 2022 concerning the Handling of Outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Diseases and the Readiness of Sacrificial Animals Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1443 H has also been issued, which gives instructions to Governors/Regents/Mayors to control and control FMD outbreaks in livestock in their respective areas.

Then the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture Number 500.1/KPTS/PK.300/M/06/2022 has also been issued concerning the Determination of Areas for Outbreaks of FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease), which stipulates 19 Provinces as Areas of Outbreaks of FMD.

"Later every week or regularly, whenever there are developments, a Minister of Agriculture Decree, will be issued which is followed up with the Circular of the Head of Task Force and Instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs to accelerate the handling of FMD, as is done in handling COVID-19", he said.
