JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (NFA) targets national food diversity to reach 92.8 percent by 2022.

Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi said that in 2021 the achievement of the national consumption expectation food pattern (PPH) score would only reach 87.2 percent.

The score increased slightly compared to the previous year which only reached 86.3 percent.

"In 2021, the achievement of the national consumption PPH score slightly increased but was still below the 2021 RPJM target figure of 91.6 percent. This year, the national food diversity is targeted to be 92.8 percent," said Arief at the inauguration of the 2022 Chef Expo in Jakarta, Wednesday 18 May.

According to him, the target is achieved by optimizing the consumption of local food diversity in Indonesia.

Therefore, it is hoped that through the chef's role as an ambassador in introducing the diversity of Indonesian local food.

"Indonesia has well-known chefs who are believed to be able to create a variety of processed foods, there are chef Juna, chef Sisca Soeswitomo, and other well-known chefs. I hope that through this chef's role we can introduce a variety of Indonesian food riches, enrich and preserve Indonesian cuisine and raise the industry. national food," said Arief.

Arief added that Indonesia has 77 types of carbohydrate sources, 226 types of nuts, 389 types of fruits, 228 types of vegetables, and 110 types of spices and seasonings.

According to him, the chef's role is expected to be able to optimize the diversity of food sources, realize Indonesian food independence, and introduce local food diversity to the global level.

This is in line with President Joko Widodo's direction that food is the main focus at this time, food needs to be improved by utilizing Indonesia's food wealth.

"It is important for the community to increase consumption of animal protein including fish, various sweet potatoes, nuts, vegetables and fruit to accelerate the achievement of PPH for Indonesian consumption in 2022," said Arief.
