Build Electricity Infrastructure, PLN Gets Support Commitment From TNI

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) is collaborating with the Indonesian Army regarding improving the reliability of the electricity system.

The signing of this Joint Commitment Pact will support electricity infrastructure development activities within the limits of the responsibility, authority, capacity and competence of PLN and the Army.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that the commitment to strengthening support from the TNI AD is expected to provide input to PLN regarding the reliability of the electricity system. According to him, in terms of electricity, starting from generation to distribution, PLN is indeed an expert.

"But in terms of cultural and socio-political landscapes, PLN needs assistance. With support from the Indonesian Army, I believe that what was previously dark can become light," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, April 20.

As for the signing of the PLN - TNI AD Commitment Pact, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between PLN and the TNI AD has first been carried out on Support for Strengthening Territorial Guidance on the Reliability of the Electricity System in October 2021.

“So that this preparation process can produce a comprehensive plan. So that later when there is a plan to build a power plant, it is hoped that it will also be supported by all parties, and will also have an impact on moving all aspects of life there," he said.

Darmawan appreciated the extraordinary support from the Indonesian Army. According to him, the task of providing electricity by PLN will be easier and lighter with the support from the community and relevant government agencies, including the Indonesian Army.

"After the Pact of Commitment is signed, it will also be followed by the signing of the Technical Work Plan on Territory Development Assistance in Memberamo," said Darmawan.

In addition to the signing of the Joint Commitment Pact, there was a signing between PLN and PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali, with the Indonesian Army regarding Assistance in Strengthening Binter on Pre Feasibility Study Activities and Feasibility Study of hydro potential in the Mamberamo watershed (DAS), Papua.

Previously, PLN had assigned PT PJB to carry out a Pre-Feasibility Study and a Feasibility Study in order to examine the potential energy sources for hydropower plants at the Mamberamo 1 and 2 PLTA locations.

On the same occasion, Army Chief of Staff General Dudung Abdurachman said, in accordance with Law no. 34 of 2004 article 7 paragraph 2, the TNI AD as an instrument of the state is not only tasked with military operations. The TNI AD is also tasked with securing national development.

"Whatever is a problem for the people, the TNI must be present as a solution through every activity," he said.

Therefore, he hopes that this signing can be a momentum in order to improve the performance and services of PLN as a BUMN and the public in terms of providing electrical energy and supporting national development.

"Hopefully PLN's activities are more effective and can support each other. So that everything goes according to the expected goals," said Dudung.
