JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk. (BRI) is said to have taken part in the grand MotoGP event which was held at the Mandalika International Circuit this weekend.
BRI's Director of Consumer Business, Handayani, said that this most prestigious motorcycle racing event in the world is a strategic stage for the company to be able to improve business performance, especially those related to the tourism industry in the country.
"Although it was held in the midst of a pandemic, the company is optimistic that this initiative will be a breakthrough in the tourism sector so that it can move the national economy again," she said in a written statement received by the editors on Friday, March 18.
According to Handayani, one of BRI's important contributions in this event is to facilitate micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to market their products through the BRI Experience Expo booth located around the circuit.
"We are embracing hundreds of culinary MSME merchants, restaurants, souvenir and apparel shops in the circuit area so that they can continue to be productive while providing BRI QRIS and EDC transaction services in their sales," she said.

"We are optimistic that the 2022 MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit will bring the tourism industry to life, especially in Lombok," she said.
As is known, the tourism sector has been the most affected by the pandemic. According to Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) data, throughout 2020, around 409.000 workers in this sector lost their jobs.
“Tourism has a high multiplier effect, so BRI continues to support economic recovery in this sector. We hope that this contribution can encourage MSME business activities, which are none other than BRI's core business," concluded Handayani.
