JOGJAKARTA - The use of digital technology in payment activities has grown and is inevitable. Not only used for various daily transactions, such as toll payments, payment for shopping at supermarkets and supermarkets to various other financial needs, now the practice of digital payments has even penetrated into 'unusual' types of payments.

It is Mantrijeron District, Yogyakarta, which is trying to take advantage of digital transaction services using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) system made by Bank Indonesia (BI) to serve payment of retribution at funerals.

"The Yogyakarta City Government does have a program to direct all retribution payments to be made online. Because the sub-district only has the authority to levy graves, we are trying to implement this," said Mantrijeron Sub-district Head, Affrio Sunarno, in Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday. , March 8.

So far, as in cemeteries in general, Affrio said that the service for paying grave retribution in his area was still done manually using cash. The levy itself is applied to new burials and also to the extension of the use of the tombs.

The value of the retribution quoted per grave is Rp. 15,000 per year, and is paid at once for a period of three years, which is Rp. 45,000. "By using QRIS, this payment service (tomb levy) can be accessed with various electronic money applications or mobile banking from various banks," said Affrio.

If later in practice the community has difficulty accessing the non-cash payment service, Affrio also guarantees that his officers in the field will be ready to help until the transaction is actually successful.

Affrio said that based on the results of the re-registration carried out in 2021, it was known that the number of graves in the Mantrijeron area whose permits were still being extended was almost 1,200 graves.

"The number is still only half. The rest will not extend the use of the tomb, so that the tomb can be used if another resident dies," explained Affrio.

As for graves whose permits are still being extended, continued Affrio, the location can still be used by the same family, if a relative dies. "So it is still allowed to be used for his family, namely by stacking it," said Affrio.

In 2021, Mantrijeron Sub-district targets to earn Rp. 15 million from grave retribution, but the gains from the re-registration process are up to Rp. 99.8 million.

Besides Mantrijeron, other sub-districts that also manage tombs belonging to the Yogyakarta City Government are Mergansan, Wirobrajan, and also Tegalrejo. "With all these new improvements and innovations, graveyard management services in the city of Yogyakarta will continue to improve from time to time," said Affrio.
