JAKARTA - The COVID-19 pandemic has made online shopping increasingly popular with the public. This was acknowledged by the President Director of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) Jahja Setiaatmadja.

The presence of COVID-19 in the country, according to Jahja, has made people more likely to do activities at home. Starting from working at home or work from home to shopping from home aka online shopping.

"Even older people are now shopping online a lot, they used to prefer going to the mall, to department stores, like it or not, they want to stay at home, they learn how to download applications, e-commerce," said Jahja in a virtual press conference, Thursday, February 24 yesterday.

Interestingly, said Jahja, this online shopping phenomenon is experienced by all people, including household assistants (ART). In the past, household members shopped with their bosses at supermarkets, now they only use e-commerce.

"Usually the maid is the same as the lady shopping at the supermarket, now they can compare the prices of goods from platforms A, B, and so on. Of course, this will be fun," he said.

This increase in online shopping also affects the use of internet banking and mobile banking. According to Jahja, currently, mobile banking has been widely used, especially with the lifestyle features that make it easier for customers.

"This has become a thing, a new phenomenon, so that BCA has internet banking, mobile banking has been used a lot," he said.
