Appointing Maya Wanoto As Marketing Director, This Is InJourney's Strategy To Develop Sarinah, TMII, To Labuan Bajo

JAKARTA - The government continues to make various efforts to support Indonesian tourism to revive. After officially forming the Tourism and Supporting BUMN Holding (InJourney), SOE Minister Erick Thohir also appointed Maya Wanoto as Marketing Director.

Deputy Minister of SOEs II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo revealed that the reason for the appointment was because of Maya's background and experience. With Maya's presence, it is hoped that it will encourage the company's performance in the future. This includes supporting the recovery of the tourism sector to accelerate national economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It is hoped that the joining of Mrs. Maya as Marketing Director of InJourney will be able to provide added value to improve corporate performance," said Kartika, in an official statement, Friday, January 14.

InJourney already has a number of agendas to be worked on this year. Among these are the development of a number of tourist destinations, and empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the tourism sector.

1. Sarinah's expansion outside Java

Director of Marketing Holding of Tourism and Supporting BUMN (InJourney), PT Aviasi Tourism (Persero), Maya Wanoto said Sarinah Mall will reopen in March 2022. The mall is planned to be used as a hub for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"Soft launching in March 2022, then launching properly after that. But we will make it a hub for MSMEs and 100 percent of Indonesia," he said in a virtual press conference, Friday, January 14.

Not only that, but Maya also promised to bring Sarinah to expand outside Java. However, the exact location has not yet been determined.

"We have discussions in several other places outside Java. I have to wait and start studying what happened. Sarinah is currently doing a great job and there is also a new director from the private sector. I think we can revive MSMEs and local products of Sarinah," she said.

2. Renovation of TMII

In addition, Maya said that her party would relaunch or relaunch Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) this year. Later it is planned that there will be a little development and renovation related to this TMII.

"We will indeed renovate and carry out redevelopment or re-development to be re-launched this year," she said.

Furthermore, Maya admitted that she could not explain in detail about the TMII renovation. However, it will definitely be re-launched this year.

"To be honest, I'm not clear yet. But we will renovate and redevelop it for a re-launch this year," she explained.

3. Develop Labuan Bajo

Not only doing renovations at TMII, Maya said that her party would also develop two tourist destinations in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Starting from Komodo conservation to boat docks.

Furthermore, Maya explained that the big plan had been prepared together with the local government.

"There will indeed be a grand plan, in which we will change the layout of Labuan Bajo, the pier, and all kinds of things we will develop to build the tourism economy in Labuan Bajo," she explained.

For your information, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has inaugurated the merger of tourism and supporting State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on January 13, 2022. However, this holding was actually already formed at the end of 2021.

Tourism and Supporting BUMN Holding (InJourney) is led by PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) as the holding company.

The members of this BUMN holding are PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero); PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero); PT Hotel Indonesia Natour (Persero); PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (Persero) and PT Sarinah (Persero).
