PT KAI Follows Government Regulations Regarding PPKM Level 3 Christmas-New Year

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has stated that it complies with and follows government regulations regarding the Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) policy which will be implemented ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"We comply with what regulations will be set by the government (regarding the handling of Covid-19)", said PT KAI President Director, Didiek Hartantyo, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 18.

Didiek said PT KAI would adjust travel in the transportation sector, especially trains by referring to the provisions of the Covid-19 Task Force and the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Transportation.

In addition, he also emphasized that train travel always applies strict health protocols according to applicable regulations.

As is known, the government is taking steps to prevent a new wave of Covid-19 ahead of the 2021 Christmas and New Year 2022 holidays by setting PPKM Level 3 in Indonesia.

The enactment of PPKM Level 3 will directly have an impact on travel regulations, especially since the Christmas and New Year holidays are predicted to increase mobility.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, said PPKM Level 3 rules apply to all regions of Indonesia during Christmas 2021 and New Year's 2022. The status of PPKM Level 3 will take effect from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022.

This policy will be implemented until the Ministry of Home Affairs issues the latest Minister of Home Affairs Instruction.
