JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) has stated that it will soon conduct an auction of the confiscated assets belonging to Hutomo Mandala Putra alias Tommy Suharto which were seized by the state due to his involvement in the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) debt case.

This assurance was conveyed by the Daily Head of the BLBI Task Force, Rionald Silaban in his statement today. According to Rionald, the assets seized from former President Suharto's youngest son were related to the national car project on behalf of PT Timor Putera Nasional (PTN) located in Karawang, West Java.

"For PT TPN's collateral assets that have been confiscated, the management process will continue through the PUPN mechanism, namely open sales (auctions)", said Rionald, who also serves as Director-General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance, Friday, November 5.

The row of assets in question are as follows:

1. Land with an area of 530,125,526 m2 is located in Kamojing Village, Karawang Regency as stated in SHGB Number 4/Kamojing on behalf of PT KIA Timor Motors.

2. The land area of 98,896,700 m2 is located in Kalihurip Village, Karawang Regency as stated in SHGB Number 22/Kalihurip on behalf of PT KIA Timor Motors.

3. Land with an area of 100,985.15 m2 is located in Cikampek Pusaka Village, Karawang Regency as stated in SHGB Number 5/Cikampek Pusaka on behalf of PT KIA Timor Motors.

4. Land with an area of 518,870 m2 is located in Kamojing Village, Karawang Regency as stated in SHGB Number 3/Kamojing on behalf of PT Timor Industri Component.

To note, Tommy Suharto was involved in the BLBI case for withdrawing funds (credit) from several banks that received the central bank bailout in the 1990s.

Because these banks could not return the funds as promised, the state then pursued the parties who received the money flow to the debtor (customer). It was noted that the debt that Tommy Suharto had to meet was more than IDR 2.61 trillion.

Just so you know, the total state losses that must be borne in the BLBI case are reported to have reached IDR 110.454 trillion. Now, the BLBI Task Force is working hard to catch the fraudulent Bank Indonesia funds to be returned to the state.
