Financial Freedom Is Important For Nyaleg In Elections, So As Not To Be Stressed If You Fail

JAKARTA The democratic party called the general election (election) has ended. Now, candidates for the legislature of the DPR / DPRD (Caleg) are anxiously waiting for the vote count results. Understandably, the legislative costs are not cheap, so if they fail to have the potential to disrupt the balance sheet, they can even have an impact on mental health.

It is common knowledge that the cost of participating in the election is not cheap. Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Gelora Party Fahri Hamzah once mentioned the high political costs that must be incurred in the presidential election, legislative elections, and regional head elections. Fahri called this a 'bumerang' for the sustainability of the democratic system and the existence of Indonesian political parties.

"This gives birth to corrupt practices carried out by elected politicians or officials. Because their electability is not determined in quality and capability, but in'bag content' or the amount of political funds sourced from personal pockets or from funders," said Fahri, quoting Antara (5/9/2021).

Looking for ways to return the capital after spending non-cheap political costs is the first target for those selected.

But, what about the failed one? How to reorganize finances after completely enlivening the democratic party?

The assumption that the political costs were expensive was ever refuted by political observer Dedi Kurnia Syah. He emphasized that the General Elections Commission (KPU) never mentioned the contestation registration rate.

According to Dedi, high costs were only initiatives from participants and parties because from the start he thought money was a source of choice.

Talking about cheap political costs, maybe it can be seen from several Indonesian celebrities who have lost money without having to spend deeply. Comedian Alfiansyah Komeng, for example, who without fanfare to the public that he is running for office as a member of the DPD RI from the West Java electoral district.

Or it could also be Opie Kumis, who admitted that she only spent Rp. 25 million from the proceeds from selling her favorite birds. Even with Dede Sunandar who sold two cars for a loss. Opie Kumis is proposed by PAN to run as a candidate for the DKI Jakarta DPRD VI, while Dede is running for the Bekasi City DPRD candidate for the West Bekasi 5 electoral district and Pondok Gede.

Although the three of them have different results, they have something in common, namely not to be in debt to be involved in political contestation. According to the financial planner, before advancing as a legislative candidate, the person concerned should be financially stable, apart from having a vision and mission that can attract public sympathy. So, even if it fails, Si Caleg's finances will not be battered.

Aulia Akbar's certified financial planer said one thing that needs to be done when someone experiences financial problems, whether it's after losing the election or something else.

"When we have financial problems, whether it's a leg or what, maybe we feel the burden is increasing, the finances are messy, what we have to do is check our own finances," said Aulia.

"Do we have a debt, whether the debt is still within normal limits. Then, do we still have cash, cash is still within normal limits or not. Are there still emergency funds. So first look for the problem, whether there is a problem or not," he added.

Meanwhile, Harabdu Tohar is also one of the artists who advanced as a legislative candidate. This comedian, better known as Bedu, admitted that he did not spend billions of surplus. For him, the money spent is considered a cost to buy his experience in politics, so even if he fails to travel to Senayan, Bedu does not feel disappointed. Moreover, according to him, there is a connection between financial conditions and mental health.

"Check first for financial health and mental health. If the health of money is safe, mentally is also maintained. If you fail to qualify and money is not healthy, mental health is also disturbed," he said.

The same thing was also expressed by Opie Kumis. He never regretted his decision to enter politics even though he failed in the end.

"In a democratic party, you never think about winning or losing, the important thing is that you have contributed to a democratic party, getting to know the community. So in a democratic party winning or losing is normal. No regrets or disappointment," said Opie Kumis.

From them we learn that enlivening democratic parties is not only a luxury cost. And it should be noted, the importance of straightening out the intention that participating in political contestation is not just a career journey but a service. Thus, financial freedom is needed first before sinking.
