Netizens' Poll Discusses KPPS Inauguration, Starting From Polemics To Jokes On Social Media In Netray Monitoring

JAKARTA The inauguration of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) which was carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia on January 25, 2024, caught the attention of the public. Many negative stories from the inauguration, but not a few also invited laughter for netizens.

Launching its official website, the General Election Commission (KPU) inaugurated 5,741,127 which were spread across 820,161 polling stations. The result was that 1,135 articles contained the keyword were found. These articles were published by 269 online news media, Netray reports.

The news of this keyword reached its peak on January 25, 2024, right on the D day of the inauguration of the KPPS, with 343 articles published that day. The post of positive sentiment is more dominant. There were 485 articles recorded with positive sentiment, compared to 422 articles with negative sentiment.

Positive news comes from the topic of enthusiasm of residents in the inauguration of KPPS, the benefits of becoming members, to planting seeds after the inauguration ceremony. KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari ensured that there was a guarantee of social protection and health checks for members on duty in the 2024 General Election.

However, there is also negative news from the inauguration ceremony of this KPPS member, who was dominant on January 28. Negative news emerged after a viral upload from a warteg revealed the amount of pocket money and snacks at the inauguration. This issue then became the subject of media coverage which then gave negative sentiment on this topic. As a result of the news, the KPU Sleman and vendors involved have to deal with the law in handling this case.

Regarding the inauguration of KPPS members simultaneously throughout Indonesia, this issue is also widely used as content by TikTok residents. With the same period and keywords, uploads related to this were found in 178 content uploaded by 174 accounts.

These content received 1.2 million impressions with details of 1.1 million tickets, 81.7 thousand comments, and 71.5 thousand re-sharings. This topic is quite a concern for netizens, these content have even been played 32.1 million times," Netray reports.

However, content on TikTok is dominated by neutral sentiment uploads. Netray reported that 157 content neutral content posts, far more than positive sentiment (56 content) and negative sentiment (39 content).

The parody content as a KPPS officer is the most dominant content material displayed. The most popular content comes from the @rickyerlangga account, uploaded on January 27. The content contains parody when he was legally appointed as a member of the KPPS, reaping hundreds of thousands of impressions.

Other parody content was also uploaded by other accounts. These accounts share parody, such as being left behind by a lover who was officially appointed and someone who had to lose a friend because the inauguration made him and his friend now have different caste.

On the X or Twitter channel, Netray found 39.6 thousand uploads with the same keywords and periods. Citizens of X also paid great attention to this topic, which can be seen from the amount of impression obtained, namely 250 thousand reactions. Even the tweets uploaded by more than 17 thousand accounts were able to reach up to 157 million accounts.

Criticism of the provision of inappropriate sanctions to flashbacks of the incidence of hundreds of KPPS officers who died in the 2019 Election became an issue that netizens had uploaded widely to this topic.

Meanwhile, positive sentiment from channel X comes from netizens who are entertained by jokes or get away from KPPS members.
