BRIN Research Enters Advanced Phase, Government Calculates Costs and Production Capacity

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto asked a number of research results from the National Research and Innovation Agency or BRIN to be immediately followed up to the production stage. The government began to calculate the economic value and production capacity of innovations that were considered to be able to answer the needs of the community.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said Prabowo from the beginning paid attention to the mastery of science and technology.

"The goal is only one, namely to consolidate and sharpen our research with the aim of producing research that has an immediate impact and can solve the problems faced by our nation," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 7.

According to Prasetyo, the previous President also gave additional research funds. A number of research results were then presented to President Prabowo.

In the food sector, BRIN has developed rice and onion seeds with yields that are said to be far above average. Other research targets cheap drugs, vaccines, and technologies for processing river water, wastewater, and turbid water into water that can be consumed.

There are also tiles made from coconut coir, shoes made from palm waste with prices below Rp. 100,000 per pair, and household-scale waste processing technology.

Prasetyo said that some of the innovations received instructions from the President to be immediately followed up.

"It is also calculated in terms of its value, including its economic value, and also its ability to produce it," he said.

According to Prasetyo, the results of the research must be produced in large quantities if the community really needs it.

"If we talk about research, at the end there must be the ability to produce in a large enough amount because what we need is quite a lot," said Prasetyo.
