Son Kills Mother in Mataram, Motive is Not Given Money to Pay Debt

MATARAM - The public prosecutor revealed the motive for the defendant Bara Primario to kill his biological mother in the first trial at the Mataram District Court, West Nusa Tenggara.

"Initially, the defendant Bara Primario asked the victim for money on the grounds of paying debts," said I Dewa Narapati, representing the public prosecutor's team, reading the indictment in the first trial before a panel of judges headed by Kelik Trimargo, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 3.

According to the prosecutor, the victim refused the request with an emotional tone. Because the request for money of Rp. 6 million was not met, the defendant then planned the murder to facilitate the possession of the victim's valuable belongings.

The defendant carried out the action on Sunday morning, January 25, when the victim was sleeping at their home in Monjok, Mataram City. The victim was strangled with a nylon rope until he died.

After that, the defendant took the victim's mobile phone and accessed the digital banking service (m-banking). From the victim's account, the defendant transferred a total of Rp30 million to three different accounts, each Rp10 million.

"All of them were sent by the defendant to the online gambling deposit account," said the prosecutor.

The prosecutor also revealed that the defendant tried to eliminate traces by removing surveillance camera (CCTV) footage installed at the house.

In the morning, the defendant took the victim's body to an empty lot in West Sekotong District, West Lombok Regency, which later became the location of the discovery of the body.

During the journey, the defendant is said to have bought Pertalite type fuel to burn the victim's body at the location.

After returning from West Sekotong, the defendant went to a car wash.

For his actions, the prosecutor charged the defendant with violating Article 459 and/or Article 458 paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) and/or Article 44 paragraph (3) of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Violence in the Family.

After the reading of the indictment, the defendant stated that he did not submit any objections or objections. The panel of judges then scheduled a follow-up hearing on Wednesday (10/6) with a proof agenda.
