The Government is the 15 Thousand House Program in Border Areas

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian as Head of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) held a meeting to discuss preparations for housing programs in border areas with BNPP Secretary Makhruzi Rahman and BNPP ranks.

The Minister of Home Affairs appealed to the BNPP ranks to utilize the renovation program for Unworthy Housing (RTLH) initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) which targets border areas. He said the PKP Ministry had budgeted for the repair of 15,000 RTLH units in border areas.

"This Mr. Ara (Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait) has conveyed 15,000, originally 10,000, this (increased to) 15,000. Then, the task from BNPP, this I ask, catch this program right. This is really done with heart," said Tito quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 15.

The Minister of Home Affairs has tasked BNPP to map out border areas that are eligible to be the location for the implementation of the program, including the number of units in each region.

Meanwhile, for the detailed data of people receiving the program, BNPP can coordinate with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

He said BPS had collected detailed data on the social and economic conditions of the community, including those living in RTLH. Thus, the implementation of the program can be more targeted according to the criteria of the recipient.

"Because (BPS) has conducted a survey, the National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN)," he said.

Furthermore, the Minister of Home Affairs believes that the program will have an impact on improving the welfare of the community in border areas so that it can strengthen nationalism. Thus, they become the front line in maintaining state sovereignty in border areas.

"Nationalism, they will arise. That (will be) a buffer zone for defense," he said.
