BENGKULU - The Bengkulu City Government provides guidance in the form of social sanctions to dozens of teenagers who are considered disturbing residents because they often gather until late at night at a number of points in the area.

The sanction was given after many residents complained about the activities of teenagers who hang out until the early hours of the morning, disturbing the comfort of the community and the surrounding environment.

Head of the Bengkulu City Police Unit, Sahat Marulitua Situmorang, said the teenagers often gathered until late at night in a number of locations, one of which was in the Simpang Empat Pagar Dewa area.

"These teenagers often gather until late at night in the Simpang Empat Pagar Dewa area and other locations. Their activities have been disturbing the surrounding community," said Sahat in Bengkulu, Antara, Tuesday, March 10.

He explained that the teenagers who were caught in the raid were first listed by officers before being given both physical and mental guidance so that they would not repeat similar acts.

As a form of deterrent, the teenagers were asked to clean the mosque around the location where they gathered as part of the guidance given by officers.

After the data collection process was completed, the teenagers were then handed over to the Bengkulu City Social Service to receive further guidance.

In addition, the Bengkulu City Government together with the police also carried out raids periodically in a number of locations to anticipate the practice of prostitution during the month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

The raid targeted a number of boarding houses, remang-remang stalls, and hotels in the Bengkulu City area.

The activity was carried out after officers received reports from the public regarding alleged deviant activities in a number of boarding houses.

From the results of the field inspection, officers found an unmarried couple in the same boarding house. In addition, a number of used contraceptives and empty wrappers were also found that were suspected of having just been used.

Sahat emphasized that his party would continue to carry out supervision and guidance and coordinate with regional officials so that the function of the boarding house would return to its provisions.
