JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Syamsu Rizal warns the Indonesian government that it plans to send around 8,000 TNI troops to the Gaza Strip as part of the International Stabilization Force (ISF).

The ISF forces are part of the efforts of the Board of Peace (BoP) formed by US President Donald Trump in order to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Syamsu Rizal emphasized that the Indonesian government must prepare a comprehensive and comprehensive plan for the delivery of the TNI troops. According to him, various technical and strategic aspects must be carefully considered.

"The government must ensure thorough readiness. Starting from the selection of TNI personnel to be assigned, the delivery scheme, the pattern of deploying troops in Gaza, to the formulation of clear tasks while in the conflict area," said Syamsu Rizal, Wednesday, February 11.

He reminded that the security conditions in the Gaza Strip are still very vulnerable and dangerous. Therefore, the government is asked to be careful in making decisions regarding the deployment of troops.

"The situation in Gaza is not completely safe. The threat to the safety of soldiers is very real. Therefore, caution must be the main principle in this policy," he said.

Syamsu Rizal also emphasized that the deployment of TNI troops must be truly oriented towards efforts to achieve sustainable peace in Gaza and Palestine in general.

According to him, the task of the TNI in the region will be very difficult, especially in the midst of ongoing attacks and bombings carried out by Israel against civilians. The TNI must try to prevent Israel from killing the people of Gaza.

"The TNI must be able to carry out the mandate of peace, including by trying to prevent the killing of civilians. This is certainly not a light task and has the potential to cause friction with parties involved in the conflict," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of professionalism and neutrality of the TNI during the mission. According to him, the TNI must act decisively in maintaining peace, but must not be involved in direct clashes, either with the Israeli army or with the Hamas group.

He also emphasized that the essence of the Indonesian troops' presence in Gaza must be to maintain stability and ensure that there are no more bombings, attacks, and killings of civilians.

"Our main goal is peace. The presence of the TNI must be part of the solution to stop violence and protect civilians in Gaza," he concluded.
