Start Unpacking the Rasuna Said Monorail Pole Next Wednesday, Pramono: So as Not to Be Stuck

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that the demolition of the old monorail project pillar along Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, will begin next Wednesday.

Pramono admitted that the plan to execute the demolition of the pole had been coordinated with the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office to prevent legal issues from arising later.

"We have determined the day for Wednesday. Why Wednesday? So that whoever comes to that place does not use a private vehicle, so as not to cause traffic jams," said Pramono in Central Jakarta, Thursday, January 8.

Pramono emphasized that he would not close the road along Rasuna Said during the dismantling of the pole. Because this road is one of the main roads for vehicles with mobility in Jakarta.

"Of course, I have also asked the Road Construction Service for the demolition to be carried out at night, so as not to interfere with the existing transportation in Rasuna Said," said Pramono.

The DKI Provincial Government has allocated a budget of up to Rp. 100 billion to demolish the old monorail project pillars that are stuck along Jalan Rasuna Said and the arrangement of the area.

The funding is allocated directly from the 2026 DKI Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD). He is optimistic that the DKI Provincial Government has the budget even though it is still in the early years.

"The total is around Rp. 100 billion. The payment is not at the beginning of the year. It depends on the process," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Heru Suwondo.

In the initial stage, the demolition will be carried out by the Yellow Force of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office. Heru emphasized that his party was ready to immediately dismantle the old monorail project pole that was not completed.

"If we want it to be ready. So because Mr. Gub asked to be dismantled next Wednesday, yes we will carry it out. Because it has been filled with all the rules. So yes we will do the demolition and we will manage Jalan Rasuna Said," said Heru.

In the demolition of the pole, the DKI Provincial Government also carried out pavement arrangement to road repairs. Later, there will be no more separation between fast lanes and slow lanes because the pole in the middle of the lane has been dismantled.

"Later the fast lane and slow lane separators will disappear, just like on the west side of Jalan Rasuna Said. There the road and sidewalk are already neat. So we will make the road the same as Rasuna Said on the west side. Where there is one busway lane, three regular lanes. The east side will be made the same way," he said.
