JAKARTA - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Agam, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), has extended the search for 72 victims of flash floods who are still missing and spread across three sub-districts for the next 15 days.

"We have coordinated with the SAR team and we will extend it for the next 15 days in search of victims who are still missing," said Agam Regional Secretary Muhammad Lutfi AR at Lubuk Basung, Thursday, December 11, as reported by ANTARA.

He said that currently a joint team from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Basarnas, TNI, Polri, PMI, and volunteers, were still searching for missing victims.

"It is possible that the victim was buried in the mud that settles around the residential area damaged by the flash flood. We hope that the victim will be found soon," he said.

He suspects that 72 missing victims were recorded, three people were spread across Malak District, two people in Tanjung Raya, and 66 people in Palembayan, and one person in Lubuk Basung was dragged by the Batang Antokan River.

Meanwhile, 190 victims have been found dead, 14 in Malalak District, 10 in Tanjung Raya District, one in Palupuh, one in Matur District, and 138 in Palembayan District.

As many as 13 victims were still being treated, 4,117 people were displaced, and 988 people were affected or isolated.

In addition, 493 houses were lightly damaged, 359 houses were moderately damaged, 600 houses were heavily damaged, 11 places of worship were affected, 67 bridges were damaged, and 49 roads were damaged.

After that, there were 99 educational facilities damaged, 125 units damaged, 16 units damaged dams, 5,025 dead livestock, and 1,813.70 hectares damaged agricultural land.

"The total loss due to flash floods, floods, landslides and tornadoes is Rp682.35 billion," he said.
