JAKARTA - Russian Presidential Secretary Dmitry Peskov said the meeting between President Vladimir Putin and United States President Donald Trump before the New Year was not considered, as it required careful preparation.

"So far, nothing has been discussed. The meeting must be prepared, and must bear fruit. In order to produce results, work must be carried out at the expert level first, and this is already underway," Peskov told Channel One Russia, quoted by TASS (9/12).

Peskov further explained that currently Moscow does not have any information regarding the results of negotiations between Washington and Kyiv in Florida.

"When we get this information, we will understand what to do and how we have to (move) forward," Peskov said.

The spokesman added that the results of the negotiations will determine Russia's next steps, including in an effort to realize the potential meeting between President Putin and President Trump by the end of the year.

Three-day negotiations between the United States and Ukraine ended in Florida on Saturday, after US Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner spoke with President Zelensky by telephone.

According to the Axios portal, the United States is trying to find a new approach to solving territorial problems.
