Electricity In North Sumatra Has Recovered 100 Percent Post-Disaster

PT Perusahaan Listrik Nasional (Persero) or PLN ensures that the electricity system in North Sumatra (North Sumatra) has recovered 100 percent after the flash floods and landslides that hit since November 25, 2025.

General Manager of PLN North Sumatra's Main Distribution Unit, Mundhakir, said the recovery was carried out by prioritizing aspects of safety, speed, and accuracy. A total of 949 personnel were deployed to reach all affected points, including areas that were difficult to access.

Mundhakir said that Sorkam and Central Tapanuli Districts were the last areas to return to light on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

Mundhakir revealed 103 auctioners who were previously affected have now returned to full operation. He also ensured that all customers in isolated areas would immediately turn on gradually.

"The recovery settlement is not only a technical success, but evidence that cross-party collaboration is able to penetrate the hardest terrain," said Mundhakir.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the electricity recovery in Aceh Province had reached 93 percent as of Sunday night, December 7.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, said that most of the electricity in Aceh has now returned to normal using high voltage. Previously, a number of areas still relied on low voltage.

"God willing, tonight everything can be normal. And we have used the main substation. Now some are still using low voltage. But starting tonight, God willing, we all have used a high voltage," said Bahlil in an official statement.

For your information, of the total 323 auctioners affected, 197 of them are already on. Meanwhile, for distribution substations, of the 14,916 affected, 10,837 have operated normally.

Meanwhile, of the 374.1 Megawatt (MW) affected electric load, 254.22 MW has recovered. Then, of the 1,519,999 customers affected by the disaster, 1,061,106 of them had difficulty enjoying electricity again.

PT PLN (Persero) also sent a number of generators to help with temporary electricity recovery, to the districts of Central Aceh Takengon, Aceh Tamiang, and Bener Meriah, with priority use for hospitals and clean water distribution.
