JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi revealed that the government had submitted a presidential letter (surpres) regarding the successor to the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) to the DPR RI.

"At the direction of the President, we were officially sent and assigned to hand over some surprises to the DPR. We have coordinated with the DPR leadership, with Mrs. Puan, with Mr. Dasco, and we have officially handed over some surprises," he said in a press conference, Monday, August 10.

He explained that one of the surprises was related to the definitive candidate for Governor of BI, as well as proposing a replacement for the Senior Deputy Governor of BI and the Deputy Governor of BI.

"The first is Surpres regarding the definitive candidate for Governor of Bank Indonesia, along with the candidate for the Senior Deputy and the candidate for the Deputy Governor because the number is reduced by one," he said.

In addition, Prasetyo said that the government also handed over two other surprises, namely regarding the candidate members of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the candidate Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to a number of friendly countries.

"The second is the surprise of the OJK Commissioner. The third is the surprise of the Ambassador candidates for friendly countries," he continued.

Prasetyo emphasized that all subsequent processes will be handed over to the DPR to follow the mechanism in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations.

Regarding the name of the candidate to replace the Governor of BI, Prasetyo said the government only proposed one name, namely Destry Damayanti, who is currently serving as the Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia.

"So it's a single name, yes, one name, namely in the name of Mrs. Destry Damayanti who is now serving as the interim Governor," he said.
